The Basics of Temperature Logger

What is a Temperature Logger?

We all might have heard the name of data loggers, so it is a type of data logger only but the exception and what makes it different is, it can only store data relating temperature.

  • It either stores the data in Kelvin value or Celsius scale or the Fahrenheit value. You can set and change the scales as per your convenience and it is very easy to do so. You cannot store any other data as it would accept the inputs in these three scales!
  • You can store different amounts of data depending upon the model type and its storage capacity.
  • The time limit for which it can store and retain data is also specified in the description of the product but usually it can store for very long periods of time.
  • It can either have a volatile battery (you cannot retain data once the power supply is cut off) or a non- volatile battery (can store and retain data even if the power supply is cut off).
  • It can either be portable (easily movable from one place to another) or a fixed model.
  • Temperature Logger can be available in three variants so you can buy either of them based on the requirements- Thermocouple (highly resistant and accurate readings), RTD (stand- alone system and battery powered) and Thermistor (can convert temperature data into different units effectively).
  • They are available in many different variants, cheap (if you need for shorter durations and not much work to be done) and expensive (if your daily work requires it and it comes along your work almost every day). The cheap ones are not much guarantee and service assured while the expensive ones have innumerable induced features with longer shelf- life.
  • They extensively help in storing temperatures of unexplorable and impenetrable places or places with extremes of cold or hot temperature.
  • Temperature logger is used in cosmetics, food, decorative and delicate items producing and manufacturing units to keep a track of their temperature and prevent them from damage as excessive or scant amounts of temperatures may result in fungal or bacterial growth and spoilage of the items.
  • It also used in mushroom cultivation for the same reason.
