Digital Counter- know more about the usage and application in brief

The digital counter is the LED control instruments that are mainly used for counting number, length event, time, etc. as well as for measuring frequency speed and position control. The input signals can be used as enormous waveform pulses and sensor signals like grating, proximity sensor, photoelectric sensor, decoder, contact switch, encoder, etc. This counting device is directly connected with computers and PLC. Now, these digital sensors are used in machinery, electronics, food, fertilizers, packaging and other industries.

Uses of this counting device:

  • The digital counter is widely used for counting numbers and for measuring height, position and angle. Besides, 4 digit counters equipped with up/down input modes can count preset value and length, at the same time display the total count and batch value in real-time.
  • It is also demanded to measure the frequency, rotational and linear speed as well as the flow of numerous types of control equipment. The 4 digit counters can be easily customized as special test instrumentation used for the pulse width detection and duty ratio detection.

In simple words, Digital Counter is can also be called a sequential circuit. It is basically a digital circuit which is used for counting pulses. In fact, the counter is the highest application of flip-flops. So, it can be said that it is the group of flip-flops equipped with a clock signal. Counters are of two types.

  • Asynchronous or ripple counters
  • Synchronous counters

Flip Flops used in Digital counter

Digital Counter is an electronic circuit that is basically used to count the number of times the event occurs. The digital electronics counters are designed by making use of the series of flip-flops. Moreover, any flip-flops can be suitably connected in order to form a counter and the widely used are D and JK flip-flops. Watch Video…
